Illustration Friday "Talisman"

For this week's Illustration Friday topic of "talisman" I went Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Little Violet Beauregarde found herself a golden ticket (her talisman) and is ready to cash it in. As a kid I was a little freaked out by Willy Wonka (Gene Wilder), and those little dudes the oompa loompas. So I pushed the freakiness factor and can up with this. It took about 8 hours and is a Photoshop/Illustrator collaboration.

Johnny Depp played a much better Willy Wonka I think. I like this illustration though, it's cute. Your Wonka looks creepy but I guess that was the intention. =)

I like your versatility. You worked for Disney as an animator (a grinding dream for me:) and you delve into the "Illustrator" style. Amazing coloring too! Your work speaks volumes.

I came across your art on Directory of Illustrators and I love your illustrations! I was wondering if you have any advice on getting into the busniess....I'm a student and I'll be graduating next year.
